\\ The Cost of Being Hair-Free

Despite the growing popularity and scientifically proven efficacy of laser hair removal technology, there are still those reluctant to switch from conventional methods of hair removal like shaving, waxing and depilatories regardless of the ongoing inconveniences associated with these methods.

Based on national averages, a woman can expect to spend between £1,500 and £4,500 for hair-free underarms, bikini line, upper lip and chin over the next ten years. And, the average fee for professional laser hair removal is between £80 and £200 per session, depending on the size of the area. Aside from the cost of razors, shaving cream, wax, hair removal strips, depilatories and professional services, what is your time and effort worth?

So the ultimate question becomes: What is your time and effort worth?

\\ Hair Removal Basics

Understanding the basics of hair removal will give you the confidence you need to achieve optimal hair removal results.

On average, it takes approximately 33 weeks for your face and body hair to go through an entire hair growth cycle. (Depending on the individual, some areas grow faster or slower.) Hair growth is a continuous cycle that occurs in three phases:

  • Anagen Phase: The "active" growth phase
  • Catagen Phase: The "transitional" phase of arrested growth
  • Telogen Phase: The "resting" phase of hair growth cycle

Just as each individual is unique, so is the pattern of hair growth between each person, and each area of the body. Not all hairs will be in the same growth cycle at the same time. Some hairs may be in the "active" growth phase while other hairs are in the "resting" phase.

Throughout the "active" growth phase, the hair follicle contains an abundance of melanin, the pigment that gives your hair colour. Laser hair removal is most effective during this phase of the hair growth cycle. As a result, repeat treatments are necessary because not all hairs will be in the "active" growth phase at the same time.

Beautiful, bare skin can be your today.

\\ Is TRIA For You?

If you've tried shaving, waxing and depilatories, and you've grown tired of the ingrown hairs, nicks, bumps-and the short-lived results-consider TRIA. This enlightened hair removal solution provides long-term results with the luxury of being able achieve beautiful, smooth skin in the privacy of your own home.

Unfortunately, laser hair removal is not for everyone. Although TRIA has been designed with a variety of safety features, there are certain people for whom TRIA is not safe or will not work.

TRIA warnings and contraindications.

DO NOT USE TRIA on darker skin tones (medium brown, dark brown, or black skin). Darker skin tones absorb too much laser light, which can cause serious skin injury including blisters, burns, scars, and skin colour changes. This includes lighter skinned individuals who have recently tanned or used a self-tanner on their skin.

DO NOT USE TRIA if you are of African, East Indian, Native American, or Pacific Island descent. These skin types absorb too much laser light, which can cause serious skin injury.

DO NOT USE TRIA if you rarely or never sunburn after prolonged sun exposure. These skin types absorb too much laser light, which can cause serious skin injury.

DO NOT USE TRIA if you have an active skin disease, sunburn, peeling skin, open sores, a skin rash, active lesions from psoriasis or other skin diseases, a prior history of skin cancer, or are taking medications that may cause your skin to be sensitive to light.

TRIA DOES NOT WORK on naturally white, grey, blond, or red facial or body hair. These hair colours are too light for TRIA to be effective.

A Wave of the Future
The new use of lasers for hair removal in the 1960s developed into a long-term hair removal solution, praised by the general public for its effectiveness.

\\ How TRIA Works

TRIA is simple to use. Once charged, TRIA allows you to select one of three levels of intensity appropriate for your degree of sensitivity. When applied to the skin, it emits a short pulse of light through an output window, covering multiple hair follicles in second-long intervals. When it's time to move the output window, the device emits a short beep.

TRIA has three contact sensors to safeguard against misuse. If all three contact sensors are not touching the skin, the device will not emit a pulse of light. If the device is moved or lifted from the skin during a laser light pulse, TRIA will signal that the area needs to be treated again by emitting a short buzzing sound.

TRIA targets hair growth beneath the skin. Because the diode laser reacts with the dark pigment of the hair shaft, the surrounding skin is not harmed. The result is beautifully smooth, radiant skin that doesn't require the arduous maintenance of many other conventional hair removal methods.

Does TRIA really work?
As with any innovation, trusting the experts is key. The same scientists and engineers who pioneered medical-grade laser technologies in the 1990s developed TRIA. Harnessing scientifically proven diode-laser technology to target hair growth beneath the skin, TRIA delivers long-term hair removal results.

Where on my face and body can TRIA be used?
On individuals with white to light brown skin, TRIA can safely be used on these areas of the face and body: Nape of the neck, underarms, bikini line, legs, back, chest, abdomen, shoulders, feet, hands, upper lips (women only), and chins (women only).

Is TRIA painful to use?
TRIA allows you to select three levels of intensity appropriate to your degree of sensitivity. Most individuals will experience slight discomfort while using TRIA. Discomfort usually subsides at the end of each laser hair removal session and can usually be alleviated by selecting a lower intensity setting.

How long does each laser hair removal session take?
The length of time necessary for each session may range from a few minutes to an hour or more, depending on the size of the area.

How often should I use TRIA?
For best results, TRIA should be used every two to four weeks until desired results are achieved.

How soon will I see results?
Laser hair removal results are not instant. Hair follicles that have been disabled must "eject" the hair from the skin (which usually takes 2-3 weeks). And, because all hairs are not in the "active" growth phase at the same time, multiple laser hair removal sessions are usually needed before visible results can be seen.

Are there any side effects?
While not common, the most often reported side effects during the safety and efficacy study were temporary redness and minor swelling in the skin area where TRIA was used. You may feel warmth, burning, tingling, itching or pain while using the device, but the sensation should subside immediately after use. Potential side effects (like redness and swelling) may last for up to several hours, but can last for several days. Should you experience excessive discomfort while using TRIA, try a lower intensity setting.

Is TRIA effective on white, grey, blond or red hairs on the face and body?
No. White, grey, blond and red hairs do not have enough pigment to absorb the laser light. As a result, TRIA is not effective when used on these hair colours.

I have dark brown or black skin. Can I use TRIA?
To prevent skin injury, DO NOT use TRIA on medium brown, dark brown or black skin. TRIA should only be used on white to light brown skin.

Can a man use TRIA on his beard?
The amount of hair in a man's beard can be very dense making TRIA especially painful when used on the beard area. Therefore, men should NOT use TRIA on their beards.

Do I need to wear goggles?
When used as directed, TRIA's unique patent-pending Diffuse Radiance TechnologyT diffuses the laser's light so that it is safe for personal at-home use-without goggles. Additionally, TRIA has three contact sensors to safeguard against misuse. If all three contact sensors are not touching the skin, the device will not emit a pulse of light, thus reducing the eye hazards commonly associated with laser devices.

What do I do if my TRIA stops working?

Are there any warnings or contraindications for TRIA?
TRIA has been designed with safety in mind, however, there are certain indications, warnings and contraindictions that you should be aware of should you choose to use TRIA.
